At Boundless Refuge, we embrace dana (generosity, a gift economy), sila (ethical conduct), and bhavana  (meditation) as the foundation of our organization. These three pillars embody the profound connection between meditative insight and our interactions with others and society. By wholeheartedly committing to dana, sila, and bhavana, Boundless Refuge strives to be an offering that brings benefit to all beings.

Boundless Refuge is an independent and unaffiliated spiritual organization founded in 2021 by North Burn. It has now held two 3-month retreats with the intention of continuing to offer this annually. The first two years were held in a small cabin in the woods on an island in the Pacific Northwest and were taught solely by North and offered to a small group of dedicated yogis.

The 2024 retreat will be held at a property in Northern California. We will offer the retreat to fifteen yogis who will attend for the full three months. Due to the increasing size of the retreat, the 2024 retreat will include part time co-teachers as well as new service positions of responsibility to be held by experienced practitioners.

Over two years, twenty yogis have participated in retreat and have reported deep positive transformations. This has been made possible by the support of the wider community. Over a hundred people donated, some of these gifts have included freshly grown vegetables and flowers, art, tents, and meditation props. We have hosted four weeklong work periods and will aim to incorporate community building and volunteer work periods into the start and end of future retreats.

The Circle of Support is composed of a core group of people who have helped North to make our offering possible. The backgrounds and skills of those involved is rich and varied and their assistance has been integral to the growth of Boundless Refuge. Click the button below to learn more about us.

The Dispatch is a newsletter that goes out about once a month and is a great way to stay connected with us.

We offer a monthly Virtual Sangha on the first Sunday of every month at 10 AM PST. It will be a chance for the extended family of Boundless Refuge to come together. North will offer some Dharma reflections before responding to practice questions and offerings. The session will close with a short period of meditation, community discussion and offering blessings together. Sign up for the Dispatch to receive details on how to join.
